Egg-cellent fun at Kings Cross this Easter
If you’re looking for Easter family activities, not far from Islington or Newington Green, head to Kings Cross for two weeks of cracking fun with everything from guinea pigs to Easter-themed origami.
The Let’s Play Easter festival runs from 6 to 22 April. Daily activities include the chance to jump aboard a vintage 1960s train or make Easter crafts, with an arty twist, in sessions led by students, artists and illustrators. There’s also an Easter garden trail with prizes.
One-off events include workshops on climate change, the chance to make an Easter tote bag, a hands-on ceramics session and music from a 16-piece jazz orchestra.
More highlights include:
Easter Canopy Market
Head for the Canopy Market for plenty of Easter treats. There’ll be hot cross buns, simnel cake and plenty of chocolate, at this central hub for the daily activities.
Pet health workshop
Experts from the Royal Veterinary College will teach you more about how your pets eat, sleep and play on 19 April – essential information for pet owners, or aspiring ones.
Celebrity landscape architect, Dan Pearson will give Coal Drops Yard a floral, spring make-over – watch him at work as the gardens take shape from 20 to 22 April.
The Big Easter Egg Hunt
Armed with your map, hunt down the clues and win an Easter egg – prizes for everyone taking part. From 19 to 22 April at the Canopy Market
Meet guinea pigs, bunnies, chicks and ducklings at the Canopy Market petting zoo from Vauxhall City Farm. Learn all about the animals and maybe give them a cuddle – runs from 19 to 22 April.
Moon Lane Books
Fun, three-day book-based extravaganza with circus and creative writing workshops followed by a bad-mannered tea party.
If you’re visiting by car, there’ll be 200 free weekend parking spaces at Handyside car park, subject to availability.
